A few weeks ago, the new Makeup Revolution Fast Base foundation sticks came out. I have been trying to get my hands on them ever since release day but to no avail! They have been massively advertised by bloggers and makeup artists alike on social media and got very hyped up so when they released they sold out within a matter of hours!
A few weeks down the line and lots of checking all superdrug’s and online boutiques, I finally managed to get my hands on one.
I immediately put it to the test so I could give you my opinions on shade, coverage, formula and more. If you wanna find out how it held up then keep reading!
Packaging & Cost
As seen from the image above, the packaging is gorgeous! I love the simplistic rose gold design and the stick is very lightweight and portable. This foundation stick only costs £5, yes you heard that right, 5 POUNDS! Bargain! It definitely looks and feels more expensive.
In regards to shade, I was worried that I wouldn’t have gotten the correct shade. I find it very hard to match myself with drugstore foundations as you can’t get a shade match in store like you can with higher end foundations, and it’s also almost impossible to match your foundation online, just going off a picture of the shade. I ended up going for F6 which is for light/medium skin tones with a yellow undertone as I figured that sounded like the best match for my skin tone. The foundation shades are actually supposed to correspond with the conceal and define concealers from Makeup Revolution. However, as I like a bright under-eye highlight I use C4 in the concealer. This is just preferential to what people like and what they want their makeup to look like. I will place the other foundation shades down below:
F1 – For fair skin tones with neutral undertone
F2 – For fair skin tones with yellow undertone
F3 – For fair skin tones with pink undertone
F4 – For light skin tones with neutral undertone
F5 – For light skin tones with pink undertone
F6 – For light/medium skin tones with yellow undertone
F7 – For medium skin tones with peach undertone
F8 – For medium skin tones with yellow undertone
F9 – For medium skin tones with a peach undertone
F10- For medium skin tones with a golden undertone
F11 – For medium/dark skin tones with a beige undertone
F12 – For medium/dark skin tones with a neutral undertone
F13 – For dark skin tones with a warm undertone
F14 – for dark skin tones with a cool undertone
F15 – for dark skin tones with a neutral undertone
F16 – for dark skin tones with a warm undertone
F17 – for dark skin tones with a neutral undertone
F18 – for dark skin tones with a warm undertone
Before I go into how the foundation applied and performed, let’s see what Makeup Revolution states about this foundation so we know if it holds up to what they say it does!
‘Foundation just got faster! Launching in 18 shades and a range of undertones, Fast Base Foundation quickly perfects, contours and highlights your complexion.
The easy-to-apply stick formula melts into skin, blending seamlessly to leave a fresh and dewy finish. Twist up, swipe on and blend out with fingers, a beauty sponge or your favourite foundation brush.’
So I started off by priming my skin like I usually would. I used the elf mineral infused face primer which is one of my favourites.
I applied the foundation directly on my face using the stick. I immediately noticed how full coverage this foundation is! It covered all my blemishes without fault. It felt quite lightweight considering the coverage and liked the way it sat on my skin. I used quite a few strokes on my skin as I like my foundation to be full coverage when I am doing looks on my YouTube channel which is when I tested out this foundation. I blended the foundation out using my Real Techniques expert face brush first, then went over the top with my Real Techniques beauty blender to make sure it was all blended.
The foundation blended like a dream and definitely didn’t sit badly over my pores like a lot of foundations I have tried. Regarding finish, I would say it is exactly as Makeup Revolution stated it would be. Fresh and Dewy. It didn’t look thick or cakey but rather glowy which I loved. This was surprising to me as I expect stick foundations to be matte finish as a lot of them are, but I much prefer my foundations dewy anyway so this is a definite plus point. If you would like to try out this foundation but want a matte finish then just make sure you set your face with a lot of powder.
I applied the concealer afterwards, of course using the conceal and define concealer. They blended together seamlessly and looked flawless. I was already a huge fan of this concealer, so the fact the pair work so well together is great!
I set my under eyes and face like normal and both set perfectly with no creasing anywhere in sight.
I proceeded to finish my makeup and nothing reacted badly or didn’t blend well with the foundation. Result!
Makeup Revolution doesn’t state anything about longevity of this foundation so I was wary going into the review. However, the first time I wore this foundation for about 5 hours and it held up perfectly. And since then I have tested the foundation out again from morning until night and am very happy to report that the foundation lasted very well, with only slight creasing on my forehead but that is very normal for me with any foundation.
I honestly think I have found my new favourite full coverage foundation! This foundation stick is cheap and held up just as well if not better than some of my high end foundations. It’s portable so perfect for taking on the go as well, so what’s not to love! I will be reaching for this very often when doing looks on my channel as its such a breeze to use.
In typical Max’s Look review fashion, I’m giving this foundation a Max’s Look HELL YES.
I will put another photo below of me wearing the foundation so you can have a better look at how it looks on my skin, and I will also link my YouTube video where I reviewed the foundation so you can see how it performed in more detail.
Hope you enjoyed the review, if you have any questions do let me know, and if anyone has tried out the foundation then let me know what you thought!
Take care everyone, and il see you on the next one
